I was
vacillating about which Hollywood weirdo to write about when a news article hit me right between the eyes! Somewhere in a small town near Atlantic City, New Jersey, two little five year old students were found naked in the school bathroom having sex.
My first thought was “what do 5 year olds know about sex?” Answer: A lot more than most of us knew at that age. I would venture to say that today’s munchkins are very aware of everything that is going on in the world. They have access to computers and television, both of which are a plethora of information on every imaginable subject . They are little sponges who learn and listen to everything and anything.
Nothing is sacred or secret in today’s world. Everything, including sex, is completely out in the open. Who should take the blame for their behavior? Maybe the parents? Maybe film makers and advertisers? Certainly not the teacher! Why should this educator with 15 years experience in the school system be punished? She observed the act and immediately reported it, and then was put on paid leave with the possibility of being removed permanently from her position. Her future will very soon be determined by the Board of Education.
Mullica Township, New Jersey has a population of a little over 6,000 people with a median income of $57,000. This sounds like an average place to raise kids, but obviously there is trouble in River City. Why don’t the powers that be look more deeply into the home lives of these little kindergarteners?
This appears to be a case of shooting the messenger for no reason. Can’t wait to see the movie.
